Who are you and what do you do?My name's Andrew O'Hara, and I work as a senior product marketing manager.
How long have you worked in product marketing?I've worked in product marketing for the last 10 years.
Which products do you market?I specialise in B2B software, especially for companies in heavily regulated industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation.
Which kinds of companies do you work with?I work with companies of all shapes and sizes, from startups to enterprises – most recently for a QMS software enterprise company.
Which software categories have you marketed?I've marketed quality management, safety management, parcel management, governance, risk and compliance management, customer relationship management, and connected worker software.
Which industry sectors have you marketed to?I've marketed to aerospace manufacturing, aviation, food and beverage manufacturing, healthcare, medical device manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, rail, and transport and logistics.
Where do you work?I work from my home office in Scotland, in a town outside Glasgow.
How did you get into product marketing?I worked as a copywriter for 8 years, then as a researcher for 6 years.
Someone then asked me if I wanted to become a product marketer.
"What does a product marketer do?" I asked.
"Everything you've done until now," they said, "all rolled into one."
"Sounds good to me," I said. And I've been a product marketer ever since.
